Jhabua: Voters come out in good numbers for Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua Assembly constituency by-election held here on Monday. The main contenders are senior Congress leader Kantilal Bhuria and Bharatiya Janata Party's Bhanu Bhuria, who is making his electoral debut.
Polling stations opened at 7 am and voting ended at 5 pm. As per Election Commission directives, a mock poll was conducted at 5.30 am. Four companies of the Central Industrial Security Force were deployed at sensitive areas, while four Special Action Force contingents and 600 police personnel from other districts were present at booths.
A total of 2.78 lakh voters were eligible to vote of which 1.38 lakh are females and there are three transgender voters.Congress candidates Kantilal Bhuria, wife Kalpana Bhuria, son Vikrant Bhuria and daughter-in-law Sina Bhuria reached polling number 93, while Kantilal Bhuria, discussing with the media, claimed that he was winning by an overwhelming majority.Yuva Morcha District President BJP candidate Bhanu Bhuria cast his vote at 7:30 am in village Dotad. Independent candidate Kalyan Singh Damor cast his vote in village Talawali.
