Indore | In Indore, number one among the cleanest cities, a pothole submerged in water took the life of a girl student. The accident happened on Ring Road at 8 pm on Saturday night. Sarita Ranada died after falling into the pit. Sarita and her friend Sujata were coming on Activa with her brother Rahul.  The front wheel of Activa went into the pit as it was not visible due to water filling. All three fall out of vehicle. Sarita had a severe head injury.

21-year-old Sarita d/o Ganesh Ranada was a resident of Dhar. Living in Indore, she was studying BA second year in Gujarati College.  Sujata is a student of B.Sc Nursing. Both lived in a rented flat in Musakhedi. Rahul is also a student of Holkar Science College and lives in Khandwa Naka.

Rahul told that Sarita said in the evening that water was not coming in the tap, that is why he was bringing both of them to his room for having dinner. There have been potholes due to rain on the ring road. He was driving the scooty safely, but due to the water being filled, the pit could not be visible and the entire wheel of Activa was submerged in it. As the vehicle landed in the pit, it fell to one side.  Sarita and Sujata fell.

According to police station in-charge Santosh Dudhi, Sarita had suffered a serious head injury. She was taken to the hospital and she died during treatment.

A same type of accident took place in Palasia area of the city in May 2019. Nitin Madhukar (22) died after falling from a scooty near the Indreshwar Mahadev temple in Manorama Ganj. He also fell from the vehicle because of a pit filled with water. After this, a case of negligence was registered against the Water Resources Department of the Municipal Corporation.
